The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum commissioned Patti Jacquemain to create a large mosaic mural for the children’s section that depicted representations of life in and on the three elements of the Museum’s mission: Above the Ocean (the sky); On the Ocean; and Within the Ocean. This mosaic was created in eight sections that were transported to the Museum individually and installed on the east facing wall of the ground floor. After the individual panels were mounted, Jacquemain had to finish her creation by seamlessly joining the sections together with tile and grout making it appear as a single artistic creation 16’ wide by 6’ high.
